Most of us don't consciously realize the way that we use scents and fragrances to evoke pleasant reactions from other people. The effects of fragrances are so common to our everyday lifestyles that most people do not even begin to realize exactly how we are affected. Our goal whether we do it consciously or unconsciously is to use fragrance oils to cause people to react to us in ways that are beneficial to us.

I would say that 98% of us do not realize when we are being affected one way or another by our sense of smell. We are also unaware of the effects of fragrance on our moods. I learned a long time age to maintain a pleasant fragrance in my retail store. Customers would come in and immediately comment on the pleasant aroma in the air. This would create an atmosphere for a pleasant business transaction to take place.

Have you ever smelled a fragrance that brought back pleasant memories of a past time or event? The fragrance was the catalyst to the memory that you had. Memories can sometimes be unpleasant so we want to make sure to evoke fond memories. Do you remember the smell of gingerbread, or how about apple pie? Maybe you can remember the fragrance of that first love, or another special someone in your life. All of these things are factors that we should be mindful of when we choose a fragrance oil to wear or a scented oil to burn.

We choose scented perfume or cologne oils to create our own personal persona or signature. I am sure that each one of us has a scent that we associate with a specific person, place, or event in our past. We associate the fragrance with the person because it reminds us of his or her persona. Have you ever smelled a fragrance on someone and said that it smelled like the person? You blended them both into one entity. Many of our customers will actually mix different scented oils until they come up with a signature fragrance. Once they do they have established a fragrance which gives them a unique identity. Do you know which oil fragrances cause people to react to you in a positive way. One which works extremely well for me is coconut believe it or not. Which scented oil works for you? http://www.fragranceoilexpress.com

Tishbite,

I loved your article. One of my former clients, a lovely elderly woman, wears a particular scent that is exquisite on her. She often gives me a bottle of this expensive perfume on holidays. Unfortunately, it doesn't smell the same on me. It is a heavy, sweet perfume where I tend towards the musks.
